Okay I couldn’t help it. I was going to do their first official shoot together when Daigo got his hair, eyes, and body, but that’s just too far away! Enjoy!

I wanted to debut him with an amazing photoshoot, but I really can’t help but post these because I’m so proud to be Daigo’s owner. I’m going through some bad times right now and playing with him really helps. He’s so therapeutic, lol. I’m even starting to prefer him over Hazy *gasp!!* It’s like a dream come true to have such a unique work of art sculpted by someone I actually know (via email at least) and painted by my favorite faceup artist, Helene.

Already spoiling him with toys, I see. Lol. Well He still needs his own body, eyes, wig, and a name.

When Daigo’s wig comes in (his eyes won’t be in for months), I’ll do a real shoot of their first “meeting.” For now, though, I can’t resist posting their first shot together, with Daigo stealing Ryu’s wig, body, and hoodie that I just sewed for him.

Wow, just wow. Part of Daigo’s requirements was that he would have to look good with Hazy so that they could be a couple. I can’t express my joy for how wonderful they look together! Daigo looks like a much older man and Hazy looks like a more naive lady but hey, my bf is over 7 years older than me so it’s all good. So far Daigo has been looking pretty angry and even a little strung out but I think it’s just the crappy lighting in my apartment. We’ll see in their photos.
I’m having a great deal of trouble naming Daigo. Hazy is YeunJa, Ryu is August (although I rarely use their names), but Daigo is….?? Not sure!! Anyone have any ideas? At first I didn’t like Daigo as a name but…it kind of works! It’s certainly unique.
I’m also having trouble getting a body. It seems like a ton of companies that used to match Minimee resin recently switched to a more pink color. This means I can no longer buy from the store Unidoll, Iplehouse YID, or several other bodies that were on the top of my list and no one seems to be selling them second hand. I still have Raurencio (I think), but the Raurencio hands make me want to cry. I don’t want to cover up Daigo with a bulky hoodie forever, though!

What can I say about this head other than just WOW. I asked Helene to paint him because I thought her past works were great. Well if her past works are great then this work is incredible, in my opinion. I don’t have eyes or a wig for him yet (or even a matching body for that matter) but I’ll post a couple of Helene’s official photos. You can visit her blog for the complete set.
With this head, Helene went from being one of my favorite artists straight up to my favorite. She has so much talent, does quality work, she’s timely, super nice and understanding, great at interpreting molds, and she seems to really love doing it the whole way through. I highly reccommend her for anyone thinking about getting a Naturally Nude faceup. (Now I just wish the post office cared enough to not throw the box against a wall repeatedly until the sides started splitting open.)

I’m too excited to not post an update on my doll family. My Minimee Daigo is currently in another country, getting a faceup by one of my favorite faceup artists, Helene of Naturally Nude Faceups! I figured as long as I have a minimee, which already makes him a rare doll, why not go all the way and get a really, really nice faceup done to make him unique? And heck, why not save up the extra money to get my dream makeup? The way I chose Helene was that she has such a defined style that I know whatever she does will look incredible.
Also, I’ve been realizing that I have a different dream doll family than I originally thought. I realize this because even though Ryu is much newer than Hazy, I still give most of my attention to Hazy.
My new dream doll family consists of:
1. Elfdoll Hazy
2. Minimee Daigo
3. Supia Rosy
I really, really want Supia Rosy in tan skin, though, but Supia does not have any plan to release that resin type again (I asked them). I guess I’ll have to dye her myself. And I guess this means that for some reason, I’ll end up being the white girl with a collection of entirely realistic Asian looking dolls. lol!
This Rosy on the left painted by irrimiri and owned by solarsenshi almost perfectly embodies my idea for Rosy: a kind of Hawaiian looking girl. But I dunno…Would a Limhwa Half Elf be an equivalent? On the right is needoll’s Limhwa Half Elf. What do you think?
Rosy: $600 (NS, no makeup/eyes/wig) Limhwa: $515 (Tan, no makeup/eyes/wig)

Saturday was Elfdoll’s Easter/Spring Party and I wasn’t originally planning on attending (didn’t want to go alone) but after remembering how hospitable and great Ms. Cholong is, I couldn’t resist! In the end, I’m so glad I went because I met great new people, got to know others better, and the variety of dolls was even more amazing than last time. Wow!
View the full set by clicking here! There’s lots more but I want to focus on only a few.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many incredible dolls together at once.
These perfectly sized and functional bikes were a popular topic of conversation.
I thought my Hazy and this girl looked so nice together. They were both in the “put together” (not made by you) contest.
My Ryu holding my really, really old Obitsu (circa 2002). I had fun making the bunny ears!
This Cocori is just AMAZING!
This gorgeous head was painted by SDink and sold for $100! If I had known it would be there, I would have bought it! I’m glad I finally got to see her work in person, though.
