Clean and Wintery

December 27th, 2008 by admin

After the winter/Christmas shoot (which I will upload on 1/3), I managed to shoot a few extra frames of Hazy with different props. Here are some very clean and clear portraits, one with a gorgeous pearl necklace I got for Christmas and one with more of a winter theme. I also included some close ups. Enjoy!

The Kimono Shoot

December 25th, 2008 by admin

I commissioned this beautiful kimono from Haru-Ru and themed this photoshoot around it. My test shots and final shots came out so incredibly different and great in their own way that I will include both below:

“Test” Shots (which I now consider the same shoot with a different feel)

Below: Not a great shot but she just looks so real.
Below: STILL my favorite photo I’ve ever taken of Hazy. It just has the PERFECT mood. She looks ghostly, afraid, and almost violated.

Hook, Line, and Sinker

So now that I’m officially “in” with bjds, there are some things I’ve realized:
1. There’s no such thing as “I’ll just get one and that’s enough for me.”
2. It’s not worth it to buy a cheaper doll just to save some money. Save for that extra month or two (or six, in my case) to get the more expensive one that you really want.

That being said, I’m looking into which boy doll I want next. I know I want a masculine doll on par with Hazy’s quality and realism. Otherwise they wouldn’t match very well. I believe I know which boy I want but considering how many dolls Iplehouse has lined up and that companies like BuddyDoll are going for masculine men now, my pick may be in jeopardy!

Still, I have not seen any other boy with more personality and unique features thaaannn…da da daa! Soom Lupin!

At first, I didn’t like him very much because of his lips but the more I look at owner photos (like jacobean’s), the more I think this guy is the one. I originally wanted Spinel, but my standard is: If I see a photo of a mold and think he could be mistaken for a girl, I don’t want him. I saw a Spinel like that a couple of days ago. However, I am head over heels for SDink’s Spinel work, but she is the only one I would want to make up my Spinel. Lupin, though, looks great in his default makeup (although I think I’m going for custom work to make mine unique) and would never be taken for a girl.

There were some others in the running, particularly Limhwa’s Tanned Mano, Iplehouse Akando, or a Minimee but Minimee seems very expensive and limiting (resin matching), Mano’s body is extremely skinny and Akando’s face still looks very generic and feminine to me. Lupin’s body is…well…I’ll let the photo speak for itself.

In the end, Lupin looks just about perfect. I have but one question for you guys: How well do you think he would match with Hazy? And (I guess a second question), do you have any other suggestions for boys I should consider? Looking forward to getting one Feb-Apr 2009!

Hazy’s Arrival

December 15th, 2008 by admin

Hazy arrived October 18, 2008 after over 3 months of waiting and 4 years of saving! I was so excited and luckily my mom was visiting that day so she took some photos for me.

Early Doll Collection

Sadly, I don’t currently have that photo I wanted to share that shows all 65 of my dolls, but I do have this one. It shows my redecorated shelves with a small portion of my dolls. It’s an interesting variety that I hope you will enjoy. We’ve got American Girl, Precious Moments, Barbie, custom dolls, and more.

Not pictured here is the doll that was my pride and joy before getting Hazy. She is a Madame Alexander Forever Friends Alice doll. I have never seen her in person or online other than my girl, so if anyone can give me any info on her, I would be thrilled. I believe I bought her at JC Penny in the early 1990s. I know there is a Madame Alexander Friends Forever collection that has an Alice, but that Alice looks nothing like my girl. Any ideas?

Hazy Goes a Little Crazy

Beautiful new wig by Sunny’s Wonderful World. MSD size seems a tad small for her so hopefully I can get SD size to replace this one. Finally! Hazy has a punky side!

Femme Nue

This is the photoshoot that began my obsession with seriously photographing dolls like people. I had Man Ray’s “Le Violon D’Ingres” in mind at the time, hence the centerpiece of this set. Enjoy!
